Cat Adoption Team, Executive Director

 

Salary: $140,000-$150,000/year

Benefits: Kaiser Health Insurance, 403b with 3% match, EAP, and PTO

Reports to: Board of Directors

This is a Full-Time position located in Sherwood, Oregon

 

Summary of Responsibilities

The Executive Director of Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is responsible for leading and providing oversight of nonprofit operations and implementing the organization’s mission.  This includes development, finance, human resources, marketing, community outreach, shelter, and board support. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director exemplifies the mission, vision, values, and strategic direction of the organization, based on the goals and objectives of the strategic plan, the by-laws, and the fiscal policies as approved by the Board.

With 27 years of experience, Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is the largest cat shelter in the Pacific Northwest, having managed over 66,000 adoptions. We offer adoption, foster care, and veterinary services to homeless cats and kittens, and we provide programs that support people in caring for cats.  Check out the website at:  https://catadoptionteam.org 

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion for the organization’s mission. 
  • Experience in building and supporting a diverse and inclusive environment for personnel and programming.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, leadership, and management skills. Experience directing operations, including contract and project management, managing staff, fundraising, and providing financial oversight for a nonprofit or for-profit business.
  • Experience in identifying, managing, and cultivating donors/donations, with particular focus on fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to lead diverse teams and work effectively with key stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, and donors, as well as community leaders, animal welfare advocates and organizations, the media, elected and government officials. 
  • Strong Communicator.  Excellent listener and ability to communicate using multiple channels, keeping messages understandable and inclusive for a wide range of stakeholders and abilities.  Experience in developing and making compelling presentations. 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, provide constructive feedback, solve problems, and inspire positive staff morale.  Exceptional ability to build and maintain trust among all stakeholders.  Commitment to personal and professional development of both staff and volunteers.  Strong Commitment to cultivating a culture of belonging for a diverse range of staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Exemplifies the highest level of personal and business ethics, honesty, and transparency.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in a relevant field, preferred.
  • Animal welfare experience preferred.

Work Environment

  • Ability to utilize Google systems, social media, and other applications.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Support for emergency responses as needed.
  • Regular interaction and engagement with cats and exposure to zoonotic disease.
  • Completion of reference check and background check will be required.
