Position Title: Marketing Director

Organization: Columbia Theatre Association for the Performing Arts

Location: Longview, WA
Status: Full-time exempt (requires evening/weekend hours). Reports to Managing Director. The MJ Murdock Charitable Trust has funded this position on a three-year sliding scale. Annual revenue benchmarks must be met within this funding period.

Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000

About Us—

The Columbia Theatre is Southwest Washington’s premier non-profit performing arts center and a cultural resource for the region. Our mission is to enrich and celebrate the cultural life of the community through the performing arts and to provide leadership in the preservation of our Historic Theatre. We celebrated our Centennial Year in 2025.

Position Summary—

This is the first full-time marketing director position. The Marketing Director will report to the Managing Director, work closely with the Development Director and serve as a key member of the leadership team. The Marketing Director will oversee all aspects of marketing and communication, ensuring that all activities align with our mission and strategic goals: increase visibility and awareness of the Columbia Theatre through effective institutional marketing, develop media strategies and materials, maintain consistent messaging and branding of publications, market performance series, promote arts education programming,, collaborate with the Managing Director in setting financial goals, and support new initiatives of the Columbia Theatre. 

Preferred Education and Experience—

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher or equivalent experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience in non-profit marketing, preferably in the performing arts, with a proven track record of successful campaigns. 
  • A deep commitment to the performing arts and arts education programs.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements—

  • Ability to achieve revenue goals by optimizing campaign income and expenses. 
  • Exceptional skills in creating compelling content for targeted marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, social media, email, print, and events. 
  • Graphic design skills in creating marketing collateral—postcards, posters, brochures, digital ads, and programs—using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Technical proficiency in website content management systems and digital marketing strategies: SEO, SEM, and social media advertising. 
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and proficiency in analyzing campaign and performance outcomes using key metrics for expanding audiences and the subscriber base. 
  • Ability to work independently in a one-person office, utilizing volunteers and consultants on an as-needed basis. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and set priorities and achieve goals individually and with the leadership team.
  • Manage the marketing budget and monitor expenditures in tandem with the Managing Director.
  • Oversee and coordinate Theatre’s presence at community events and festivals
  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing relationships with local businesses, patrons, community partners, and stakeholders. 
  • Serve as the primary contact for the media, distributing press releases and fostering relationships with local businesses, civic groups, and schools to expand audience reach.
  • Willingness to be a team member who undertakes other tasks when needed.

Compensation—

The salary range for the Marketing Director position is $65,000 - $75,000, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to the competitive salary, we offer a benefits package that includes health insurance and participation in a retirement plan.
