Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt / Salaried
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Supports all members of the Leadership Team, in collaboration with the Executive Director
Compensation / Benefits: Salary of $80,000/year ($38.46/hour); Paid Time Off and Holiday hours; Medical and dental insurance – 70% paid by company (upon meeting eligibility); Life insurance; Employee Assistance Plan; and Retirement plan.
About Family SkillBuilders: Family SkillBuilders helps families create safe, loving homes with personalized training and community resources and has been serving parents and children since 2002. We are committed to building strong families through relationally based parenting training and strengthening community and natural supports. We believe using a hands-on, customized, home-based model empowers parents with the skills they need to keep themselves and their children safe. We work with families who are looking for support on their own, families engaged with Oregon Department of Human Services Child Welfare, as well as Clackamas County based families needing supervised parent time or safe exchanges. Our services cover Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties.
Position Summary: The FSB Deputy Director serves as the primary operational leader of the organization, working closely with the Executive Director to implement organizational strategy, policies, and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
Internal Operations Management:
In collaboration with the Executive Director, ensure policies, procedures, and practices are aligned and support FSB’s mission and values.
Drive operational development and implementation to co-create a safe, productive, and healthy work environment in which staff have access to resources and support they need to be successful.
Work with the Executive Director, Development Director, and consultants to support comprehensive and appropriate reporting and record keeping that support FSB’s diverse funding. This includes preparing reports for the Board of Directors, writing grant applications and reports, nonprofit record keeping and compliance.
Partner with the Executive Director and program directors to develop annual budgets and monitor fiscal performance throughout the year.
Ensure compliance with all contract and funding requirements.
Facilitate systems and processes to support staff in their work. Set and map project and/or program goals and associated work plans.
Update and oversee tools that support staff such as the employee handbook, comprehensive and consistent onboarding, all-staff training and access to professional development, and staff meetings and gatherings.
Promote, foster, and advance FSB’s goals and/or priorities on diversity, equity, and inclusion including specifically: lead, engage others, and participate in evolving organizational practices, processes, and programs to be collaborative, transparent, inclusive, and equitable.
Lead and implement special projects or initiatives assigned by the Executive Director.
Community Engagement:
Maintain working relationships with key stakeholders, including providing updates regularly.
Represent FSB in external working groups or meetings.
Develop collaborative relationships with other community and state agencies for information exchange, joint projects when appropriate, and advocacy efforts.
Direct Service:
Be available for crisis management.
In collaboration with the leadership team, provide on-call support after hours and on weekends on a rotating basis.
Responsibilities of all FSB staff include:
Attend and meaningfully participate in all scheduled meetings with department, agency, and external partner teams.
Responsibly represent the program and FSB in the community, with community partners and other stakeholders.
Maintain all required training and certifications.
Uphold FSB’s mission and values by acting with integrity, accountability, and responsibility toward clients and their family members, co-workers, community partners, volunteers, donors, and everyone the organization engages with.

Qualifications: Required
5+ years social services position with management / supervision responsibility
Three or more years leading a team of social service staff.
Demonstrated experience with providing oversight and coordination to fiscal management processes within a nonprofit setting.
Exercises a high level of confidentiality and discretion, integrity, diplomacy, and ethics.
Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to provide culturally responsive support to all team members.
Thorough knowledge of trauma informed care, problem solving methodology, principles of human behavior and development, and principles of supervision and training.
Exceptional collaboration skills: is an inclusive, highly engaged team player, proactively seeks and provides thought partnership, assistance, and/or resources with or to colleagues.
Detail orientated, able to work independently and in a team, able to prioritize and manage several tasks efficiently, able to meet multiple deadlines, and able to shift priorities and adapt to change.
Must have own vehicle, driver's license, auto insurance and safe driving record.
Must have Internet access to support a home office.
Competency in Microsoft 365 and related applications.
Qualifications: Preferred
Bilingual/Bicultural in Spanish.
Training and experience in Parenting Support & Navigation Services, Parents as Teachers, and/or Family Support & Connections programming.
Hands-on experience working with children.
Comprehensive knowledge of community resources in Multnomah, Clackamas, and/or Washington counties.
Understanding of the Child Welfare system, Oregon family court system, and other structures impacting families.
