At Project Lemonade, we’re creating belonging, agency and lasting support for youth and young adults in foster care. We’re looking for an experienced Grant Writer who is passionate about our mission and ready to inspire funders to make a difference.
Working with the Development Director, this contract position will write compelling proposals and reports, help manage the grant calendar, and support prospect research. We would love to build a multi-year relationship with the person in this role and look to grow our grant revenue year over year. This fiscal year, the organization’s Foundation budget goal is $325,000, which accounts for 15% of the organization’s budget. Project Lemonade has existing resources and tools in place, including: a detailed grant calendar, past grant narratives, and a detailed grant template with language, stats and quotes.
Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with the Development Director to develop ask strategies and compelling narratives.
● Gather program data, budgets, and impact stories to create strong proposals and on-time submissions.
● Write approximately 30-40 grant proposals and letters of inquiry annually, and approximately 10-20 final reports annually with accurate grant calendar management.
● Research and identify foundation, family foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities to grow total grant revenues.
● Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant outcomes in existing tools. Qualifications:
● 7-10 years minimum of grant writing/grant management experience with a track record of successful awards.
● Understanding of the philanthropic landscape in Oregon.
● Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
● Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
● Strong communication and timely response.
● Familiarity with equity-focused philanthropy and funder priorities related to inclusion and access.
● Able to write with authenticity and a strengths-based perspective.
● Preferred but not required: Grant writing experience with youth-focused or foster care causes.
Position Details:
● Contract, part-time, 15–20 hours per month with occasional fluctuations around grant deadlines.
● Remote. Portland or Oregon-based preferred.
● Anticipated contract start date: October 2026
● Contract term: 6 months
