ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Britt Gardens, Music & Arts Festival is a mission-driven community-based arts organization founded in 1963 in Jacksonville, Oregon. Britt shares extraordinary live performances and arts education experiences that inspire discovery and build community. We produce approximately 30 popular music & comedy shows, ten orchestra performances, and dozens of admission-free education events each year. Britt’s programs and grounds are enjoyed by around 60,000 people annually, and we strive to serve a broad community with opportunities for discovery through the arts. POSITION SUMMARY

The Philanthropy Manager supports Britt’s mission by securing earned and contributed revenue. The manager is responsible for a portfolio of accounts including minor and mid-size donors, business partners, corporate sponsors, and secures online and print advertisements. This individual serves as a liaison for programs that support Britt’s strategic goals including annual revenue and a capital campaign. The Philanthropy Manager builds financial stability, represents the organization with integrity and confidentiality, and stewards relations that directly support Britt’s vision and growth through diverse revenue streams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Partnerships and Sponsorships

  • Identify, develop and lead Business Partnership (BP) campaigns and deliverables through a combination of cash and in-kind agreements.
  • Secure corporate sponsorships for Britt’s programs, including the three-week professional Britt Festival Orchestra, Education and Engagement, and Britt Live.
  • Preserve Britt’s operating cash flow by meeting annual sponsorship and BP goals.
  • Create new business-focused programs that are welcoming and inspiring to prospects, with an ability to identify potential partners, secure support for programs, create contracts and deliverables, and track metrics for success.
  • Represent Britt at the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and other local social groups. This includes developing relationships with Jacksonville businesses that financially add value to Britt, and foster Britt’s reputation as a mutually beneficial partner.
  • Manage all necessary materials and benefits from business partners and sponsors and coordinate with the Box Office, Marketing, Finance, and Facilities Departments.
  • Track cash and in-kind donations and work with Finance to ensure business partnership and sponsorship payments are in good standing.
 

Vendor Relations

  • Work with the Director of Operations on two to three year cycles to identify concession vendors, and negotiate and manage their business partnership contracts.
  • Steward the Hospitality Deck and concession vendors as potential business partners.

Advertising

  • Sell online and print advertising for the Britt Festival Orchestra and Britt Live programs.
  • Manage all aspects of advertising contracts and deliverables on behalf of Britt, including logos, banners, and ads.

Development

  • Steward and cultivate minor and mid-size donors throughout the year, identify individual prospects, and facilitate end-to-end gifts, upgrades, and tracking.
  • Oversee the relationship and revenue strategy for donors below the major-gifts threshold with the goal of acquisition, retention, increased giving, and increased gifts.
  • Segment donors by giving level, program interest, engagement, and history.
  • Identify donors showing capacity or engagement for potential major cultivation.
  • Attend Development Committee meetings and provide updates and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate donor notes and relationship history in the CRM, Spektrix, and serve as a secondary data enterer for campaigns, appeals, and fundraising events as needed.
  • Steward and cultivate donors throughout the year and develop opportunities

Administrative

  • Oversee all contract and BP agreement negotiations.
  • Annually review and update pricing, levels, and benefits for all revenue programs, including BP’s, advertisements, and sponsorships.
  • Provide analytical reports and strategic insights on relationships and donor cultivation to support annual fundraising and the capital campaign.
  • Develop tracking and metrics for all responsibilities and report to the DDM.

Concerts and Special Events

  • Attend or be on-call for all in-person performances (average 30-40) to cultivate relationships with members, donors, business partners, and corporate sponsors.
  • Support all special events, including fundraisers, orchestra host family events and parties, volunteer appreciation events, and the annual member meeting.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAITS

  • Excellent ability to negotiate equal contracts, MOUs, and agreements that mutually benefit both parties while ensuring that Britt’s interests are stewarded responsibly.
  • Requires two to six years of experience in fundraising, communications, or business and nonprofit development
  • Experience managing a CRM database; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations; and enthusiasm for developing solicitation strategies.
  • Knowledge of business, donor, and relations skills and processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.
 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely in verbal and written format.
  • Self-starting, entrepreneurial, gregarious, and personable, with creative, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with multiple departments.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse workforces and constituencies.
  • Ability to build and maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers, managers and supervisors, donors and patrons, and members of the public.
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the performing arts and the communities that engage with them.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This full-time exempt position offers a starting salary in the range of $50-65,000 annually. Britt offers an excellent benefits package including 100% of health, dental, and vision insurance paid for employees beginning the first day of the month following employment; life insurance coverage of $25,000 comprising two separate policies; 16 annually accrued days of flexible time off plus extended sick leave; 11 paid holidays; and a paid week off every year between Christmas and New Year’s days. At three years of service, employees are eligible for 50% of family/dependent health insurance coverage and additional flexible time off days.

WORK SCHEDULE, ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a full-time, exempt position. As an events-driven organization, Britt’s work schedule varies depending upon the activities of the season and the day. This position requires working many nights and weekends during the summer months.

This position has two primary work locations: the administrative office in downtown Medford, and the Britt Hill in Jacksonville, Oregon. We strive to offer a flexible work-from-home hybrid schedule, which generally allows employees to work from home two days per week.

During in-office days, this position requires frequent computer use and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. While at the Britt hill park, have the ability to carry items of up to 30 lbs, to sit or stand outdoors for long periods of time, and to travel up and down steep hills.
